Frequently Asked Questions

Top Questions

What happens if I lose weight after my measurements are taken? Once your measurements are taken during our Zoom appointment, they must stay exactly the same for the rest of the process. Even one inch of change can impact the fit. If you plan on losing weight, wait until you’ve reached your goal before booking. The dress is built specifically to your measurements.

What if the dress doesn’t fit when I try it on? The dress is shipped to you at 70% completion specifically so we can check the fit before finalizing. During the first virtual fitting, you’ll try it on while I walk you through how it should feel and fit. If anything needs adjusting, you’ll send it back with the prepaid label and I’ll make the changes before finishing it.

Can I change my mind after I’ve paid the deposit? Once your design, fabrics, and fit are confirmed and your deposit is paid, the production begins — and your order becomes non-refundable and non-changeable. Every dress is made from scratch just for you.

Can I get an estimate before I book? Yes! Just send your inspiration images to houseofzayer@gmail.com, and I’ll provide a quote range based on the materials and design.

 Fit & Sizing

How accurate are virtual measurements? Very accurate — as long as you wear the right clothes and follow my instructions. I’ll guide you live during the Zoom call. I do not accept outside measurements to avoid errors.

What if I gain or lose weight before the final dress is done? Again — please don’t. The dress is made to your original measurements. Any change can result in it not fitting properly, and additional alterations may not be possible.

Do you make dresses for plus-size clients? Absolutely! I work with all body types and sizes and will walk you through your measurements to ensure the perfect fit.

Can I wear shapewear underneath? Yes, but only if you wear it during the measurement appointment so we can build the dress to accommodate it. Be sure to mention this when we meet.

Shipping & Handling

What happens if the dress gets lost or damaged in the mail? All dresses ship via UPS with signature required and are packed securely in a garment bag and sturdy box. In rare cases of loss or damage, I’ll work with UPS to investigate. Please make sure your shipping address is correct and up to date to avoid issues.

What if I’m moving or traveling before my event? Let me know ASAP if your shipping address changes. If your dress is shipped to the wrong location due to a last-minute change not communicated, I cannot be held responsible.

Will the dress wrinkle in the box? Possibly — depending on the fabric. It will arrive carefully packed, but you may need to gently steam it after unpacking. I’ll let you know if special care instructions apply.

Will someone need to sign for the package? Yes. Every dress is shipped with signature required to ensure safe delivery.

Payments, Policies & Planning

What payment methods do you accept? I accept: • Debit & Credit Cards • Zelle • Affirm • AfterPay

When is the final payment due? Your final 50% payment is due before I ship your dress for the first fitting (at 70% completion). I cannot ship your dress without final payment.

Can I set up a payment plan? Yes — Affirm and AfterPay allow you to split your payments over time. We’ll go over your options during the appointment.

What’s your refund policy? All custom orders are non-refundable once your design, fit, and fabric are approved and production has started.

Can I rush my order? Rush orders may be possible depending on your timeline and the complexity of your dress. Please email me before booking to confirm availability. Rush fees may apply.

What if my event gets rescheduled? Let me know as soon as you find out. Depending on your production timeline, I may be able to shift things, but changes close to your event date may result in extra charges or may not be possible.

Design & Approval

Will I see the dress before it’s finished? Yes! You’ll see a detailed sketch during our design session, and I’ll show you your fabric, color, and embellishment options before we begin. Then, you’ll try the dress on at 70% completion and give final approval during our last Zoom fitting.

Is this a real custom dress, or is it just altered? This is a true custom dress, made from scratch just for you — not altered, not off-the-rack, not from a pattern. You’re part of the design process from the very beginning.

Can I bring my mom or friend to the Zoom appointment? Yes! Anyone you trust can join the Zoom call. Just make sure you’re in a quiet space and have a good camera setup.

Do I get a contract? Yes — you’ll receive a DocuSign contract after your appointment, outlining your full timeline, price, shipping date, and details. You’ll always know exactly what to expect.
